THE ISSUES THAT MATTER
HOUSING
Housing is a fundamental human right. Whether you’re a renter or have owned a house for decades, housing costs are impacting our entire community. I will fight to ensure families can stay in our neighborhoods and that communities are built for people, not shareholders.
-
I support rent stabilization, just-cause eviction protection laws, and efforts to extend legal representation to lower-income tenants to protect from unjust evictions, rent hikes, and displacement. I support banning corporate landlords from using computer algorithms to coordinate and price-fix rents. I also support protections against deceptive pricing practices so landlords are forced to advertise the full cost of a lease upfront to prevent renters from being stuck in leases with hidden, mandatory charges.
-
I support prohibiting private equity firms and corporations from ownership of existing single-family homes, because neighborhoods should be for families, not shareholder profits. I support granting tenants the right of first refusal when a landlord sells their property, as well as rebates and incentives for first-time homebuyers to create pathways to homeownership for working people.
-
I support eliminating exclusionary zoning and occupancy restrictions, which have historically been used for economic and racial segregation. I also support land use reforms like lot splitting, transit-oriented development, and building more neighborhood-design aligned middle and high-density housing, such as triplexes and quadplexes as well as condos and townhomes.
-
I support new development of actual affordable housing, and I oppose "cash in lieu of" policies that allow developers to simply buy their way out of contributing actual affordable units to the community. I support income-qualified tax relief and anti-displacement measures for our elderly neighbors to ensure they are not forced out of their homes due to skyrocketing property taxes or inflated costs of living.
HEALTHCARE
Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege, and I support a system that guarantees care for everyone, regardless of income, employment, or immigration status.
-
I support a universal, publicly funded healthcare system that removes profit from care and puts patients first. I support keeping public services public, and I fiercely oppose the privatization of our essential social safety nets, including our healthcare system.
-
I support bold measures to shield residents from the financial distress of medical bills. I support banning the garnishment of wages for unpaid medical bills, and I support lowering caps on interest rates and fees for medical bills. I also support measures to expand financial assistance to low-income and uninsured patients, as well as subsidizing health insurance premiums to keep coverage affordable.
-
I support treating physical, mental, and preventative care as equally essential parts of healthcare. I also support investing in and rebuilding access to inpatient and community-based mental health services to ensure families get help before crises escalate.
-
I believe reproductive healthcare is healthcare. I support protecting and expanding reproductive freedom and abortion access to ensure everyone can make their own healthcare decisions and access the care they need. I support requiring college campuses that provide healthcare to also provide reproductive care and abortions, as well as requiring hospital merger approvals to include enforceable protections that prevent the elimination of reproductive care.
-
I support stricter regulations on data collection, retention, and sharing to protect the healthcare decisions, privacy, and safety of all people, especially patients seeking reproductive and gender-affirming care.
LABOR & SMALL BUSINESS
Workers and small businesses are the backbone of our communities. When workers can organize, wages can keep up with the rising cost of living. When small businesses are supported, our local neighborhoods and communities thrive.
-
I support strengthening unions and making it easier to organize, because when workers can secure better wages, safer working conditions, and good benefits, it stabilizes families and local economies. I support the Worker Protection Act to remove the mandatory 75% second-election vote requirement in Colorado’s Labor Peace Act, ensuring workers have a fair path to form a union and negotiate a contract with their employer.
-
I support requiring Project Labor Agreements and Community Workforce Agreements on state-funded projects to ensure that publicly funded projects pay appropriate wages, offer strong benefits, and utilize a local workforce
-
I support exclusively contracting with union labor for state-funded infrastructure and utility projects to ensure that the renewable energy build-out creates high-quality, high-paying jobs. I also support expanding job retraining, investing in alternative economic opportunities for entire communities, and broadening the scope of the Office of Just Transition for workers shifting out of the fossil fuel industry.
-
I support expanding access and lowering the cost of higher education, including colleges, trade schools, and apprenticeships. Whether someone wants to go to a traditional university, community college, or trade school, young people and people wanting to go back to school later in life all deserve to invest in their careers through education without the burden of lifelong debt.
-
I support expanding access to public banking models, such as community banks, that provide equitable lending to small businesses and entrepreneurs, particularly for low income individuals and people of color who have historically been locked out of traditional credit systems.
-
I support streamlining the licensing process, and waiving registration and licensing fees for new, small businesses. I support set-aside policies that reserve certain state contracts for small and minority businesses. I also support initiatives like Colorado SecureSavings that provide voluntary, no-cost retirement options for small businesses and their employees.
-
I support imposing fees - with anti-discrimination protections for workers- on corporate employers of 500 employees or more, for every Colorado worker who is forced to rely on public health programs like Medicaid, SNAP, or public housing.
EDUCATION
All children, regardless of their zip code, background, or family income, deserve a high-quality education from birth to workforce. Schools are the heart of our families and the foundation of our communities. We must invest in our kids and prioritize their future.
-
I support fully funding our public schools to overcome the chronic $4 billion shortfall caused by the Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) by championing state revenue measures and uncoupling education from TABOR restrictions. I also support keeping public education public and strongly oppose vouchers, tuition tax credits, and the diversion of public funds to private or religious institutions.
-
I support treating educators as the professionals they are by paying them fair, living wages and protecting and expanding collective bargaining rights to all public school professionals. I also support reducing class sizes, protecting defined-benefit pensions like PERA, and providing housing support for educators to be able to afford to live in the communities they teach in.
-
I support prohibiting private equity firms from owning childcare facilities to remove profit from childcare and truly prioritize children and families, not shareholder profits. I support free, universal, and publicly funded childcare and summer care because families should not be going into crippling debt, choosing between bills, or jeopardizing an income, to raise the next generation of Coloradans that benefits all of us.
-
I support making post-secondary paths accessible, such as colleges, trade schools, or apprenticeships, without the burden of lifelong, crippling debt. I support state-funded loan refinancing for student loan debt, providing lower-interest rates and non-compounding interest programs. I also support protecting state financial aid programs like ASSET and CASFA to guarantee equitable access to post-secondary learning for undocumented students.
HEALTHY CLIMATE, HEALTHY COMMUNITIES
Colorado is facing increasing threats from climate change, mounting environmental challenges, and extractive industries are draining our resources and polluting our communities. We need urgent, bold solutions to meet the moment, prioritizing people over profits, and creating lasting stability, health, and abundant clean air and water for generations to come.
-
I support a comprehensive legislative framework that ties together clean energy, economic justice, worker protections, and community resilience into the bold response this moment demands. I support accelerating our state's transition away from fossil fuels and making mass-scale public investments in renewable energy technologies with battery storage, alongside equitable residential solar incentives that benefit all income levels, especially low-income and middle-income households. I support expanding the scope of Colorado's Office of Just Transition so that workers and communities reliant on fossil fuels can access unemployment relief and build alternative and substantive economic opportunities, high-paying union jobs, and continue to live and work in the communities they know and love. I support prohibiting any new commercial or industrial developments, including data centers, unless they are entirely powered by renewable energy, ensuring that developers - not taxpayers or ratepayers - fully fund their own new energy infrastructure needs or dependencies on our collective grid.
-
I support holding the fossil fuel industry financially accountable for the damages they have caused by creating a Colorado Climate Superfund. I support mandating cumulative health impact assessments during the permitting process to evaluate the total, compounding burden of toxic emissions on our communities. To ensure accountable compliance, I support implementing penalties that go beyond the standard fines that corporations simply treat as a cost of doing business. I support implementing fee-based mechanisms on polluters and high-consumption industrial users to heavily fund state environmental enforcement agencies until we can fully dismantle TABOR. I also support ensuring that any new industrial infrastructure is subject to legally binding community benefit agreements to protect frontline neighborhoods, require union workforce, and real-time monitoring and reporting.
-
I support prioritizing the health of frontline communities who have historically been disproportionately impacted by pollution, extractive industries, and fossil fuel operations. I support implementing mandatory fenceline air monitoring with an immediate halt to operations, as well as multilingual public alerts when pollutants exceed safe levels near industrial facilities. I support establishing strict oil and gas setback requirements for polluting operations near residential neighborhoods to better protect our communities, and especially vulnerable populations.
-
I support updating the Colorado Water Plan to prioritize strict conservation-first solutions, including the modernization of aging infrastructure and the elimination of wasteful water practices. I support establishing rigorous water use parameters and phase-out plans for high-consumption industrial operations, particularly data centers and oil and gas facilities. I support protecting our public lands from privatization, selloffs, and any new extraction or fossil fuel development, including drilling and coal mining. I support land-use policies that penalize low-density sprawl, which drives inefficient water consumption and strains our over-allocated river systems. I support expanding the Outdoor Equity Grant Program, environmental education programming for children and families, and increased public transit to parks, recreational areas, and public lands to ensure that every Colorado family and young person has equitable access to nature and green spaces.
-
I support a fundamental reorientation of how we invest in moving people by prioritizing high-frequency bus service, bike infrastructure, safe pedestrian routes, and micromobility options. I support equitable rebates, tax incentives, and community-based programs that make public transportation, biking, and walking financially viable for families. I support land use reform that expands the ability to build ADUs and enables lot-splitting across Colorado communities. These are evidence-based tools that add housing density within existing neighborhoods without building new, sprawling suburban communities. I support moderate and high-density affordable housing development in infill locations and near transit, jobs, schools, grocery stores, and essential services, with incentives for building design that reflects the surrounding neighborhood character.
DISABILITY JUSTICE & AGING ADULTS
Every person ages, and more than one in four Americans live with a disability. Building a Colorado that puts people first means ensuring dignity, respect, and opportunity for all - at every stage of life and in every circumstance.
-
I support strengthening service management systems to ensure providers and services are strategically coordinated so that families can navigate and advocate for the services they need without loopholes, technical barriers, or unaligned or contradictory timelines or requirements between various services. I support protecting essential services, food security programs, and home supports that seniors and people with disabilities rely on to live dignified, connected, and independent lives.
-
I support safe, stable, and affordable housing initiatives designed specifically to meet the needs of aging adults and individuals with disabilities. I support income-qualified tax relief and anti-displacement measures for our elderly neighbors to ensure they are not forced out of their homes due to skyrocketing property taxes or inflated costs of living. I support investing in evidence-based solutions like the Neuro-inclusive Housing Initiative to increase the supply of supportive, affordable housing for neurodiverse individuals to ensure they do not face displacement or homelessness as their caregivers age. I support expanding state income tax deductions for ABLE accounts so that individuals with disabilities can build financial independence and save for housing without jeopardizing their essential public benefits. Everyone deserves the right to be in a home and to age in place with dignity in the communities they know and love.
-
I support strong protections against age and disability discrimination to ensure equitable access to opportunities, employment, and education for all Coloradans. Building a state that puts people first means guaranteeing dignity, respect, and opportunity at every stage of life and in every circumstance.
PUBLIC SAFETY & GUN CONTROL
Violence and crime can destabilize neighborhoods and have real impacts on people and families. True public safety must take into consideration the immediate concerns within our communities while also transforming our criminal justice system to focus on prevention, reducing harm, and building family and community resilience.
-
I support comprehensive gun safety legislation to protect our communities, women, and children from gun violence. I support universal background checks, an assault weapons ban, red flag laws, and requiring gun owners to carry firearm insurance. I also support holding parents accountable if they fail to securely store their firearms that are later used by minors in acts of gun violence.
-
I support expanding community-based mental health crisis response teams that dispatch trained clinicians and peer support specialists rather than relying solely on police response to mental health crises. I also support using unarmed civilian responders for traffic infractions to reduce unnecessary escalation, which has cost too many lives, especially in communities of color. I support immediate, evidence-based solutions that look beyond carceral and punitive measures, but rather approach community safety with holistic, services-based solutions.
-
I support redirecting public safety funding toward community investments that actively prevent crime, such as affordable housing, accessible mental health care, workforce development, educational opportunities, and after-school programming for young people. I support addressing the root causes of crime through economic security, ensuring that families can afford to stay rooted in their communities and access essential services. At the legislature, when faced with annual requests for additional funding for carceral and punitive response to public safety, I support redirecting those public resources into our public schools, family support systems, and our social safety net instead.
-
I support transforming our criminal justice system to prioritize rehabilitation, restorative justice, and successful reentry, rather than relying on punitive incarceration. I support reducing the prison population, especially for non-violent offenders, ending our dependence on private facilities, and eliminating procedural barriers that keep people trapped in the system for technical violations. For young people especially, I support ensuring that justice system involvement acts as a point of intervention and support, not a pipeline to long-term incarceration.
-
I support efforts to bring real accountability and oversight to policing to ensure that low income and communities of color are no longer unjustly targeted or over-policed. I support ensuring total transparency for law enforcement, including legislation that guarantees civilian oversight, transparency, and accountability to communities.
IMMIGRATION
Immigrants make our communities stronger and Colorado thrives when we welcome everyone. We must continue to lead with equal and just protections for immigrants and refugees.
-
I support a ban on any law enforcement masking and concealed identities to ensure that communities know who is policing them and to provide accountability for actions taken against community members. Every person in this state, regardless of immigration status, is entitled to constitutional protections such as due process and freedom from unlawful search and seizure. I support holding any public servant or state actor legally accountable if they violate the constitutional rights of Coloradans, including immigrants who are protected equally under the law.
-
I support equitable access to education and healthcare services for undocumented immigrants and their families. I support protecting and fully funding programs like OmniSalud, Cover All Coloradans, CASFA, and ASSET to guarantee access to state healthcare programs, in-state tuition, and financial aid. Healthcare and education are human rights, and I support ensuring that every Coloradan can access these essential services to live a healthy, dignified life regardless of their immigration status.
-
I support stronger exploitation and wage theft protections that specifically prosecute those who use immigration status as a tool of control and abuse. Employers, landlords, clients, contractors, or anyone else who uses a person’s immigration status to silence, manipulate, or underpay people must be held accountable for their actions. I support strict enforcement of existing labor and anti-discrimination laws to ensure that immigrant workers are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve and are guaranteed by law.
-
With existing technologies, personal information is frequently used to target immigrants and their families, which undermines community trust and safety. I support expanding and strengthening data privacy and surveillance technology protections to ensure that the personal information of undocumented Coloradans cannot be weaponized against them. I support stricter regulations on data privacy, surveillance, collection, and sharing to ensure that all individuals have the freedom to exist in public without fear of unconstitutional surveillance or tracking.
WOMEN & LGBTQIA+ RIGHTS
Women and LGBTQ+ Coloradans deserve safety in our homes and communities, equal healthcare and economic opportunities, and strengthening protections under Colorado law.
-
Reproductive freedom and access are fundamental human rights and essential to healthcare. I support protecting and expanding access to reproductive healthcare for all Coloradans, including on college campuses, rural communities, and options for telehealth for medication abortions. I support safeguarding access to this care, especially in existing reproductive healthcare deserts, to prevent the elimination of these critical healthcare services.
-
I support strict regulations on data collection, retention, and sharing to protect patients seeking abortion and gender-affirming care from digital surveillance. I support limiting the use of automated license plate readers, location tracking, and data that period tracking apps can store or share, that could be weaponized to criminalize healthcare decisions. I support clinic safety legislation to protect patients and providers from harassment, ensuring everyone can access care without intimidation
-
I support ensuring equitable voting access by opposing any voter suppression efforts aimed at making our democratic processes less accessible to women and LGBTQ+ Coloradans. I support upholding the separation of church and state in our laws to protect women and LGBTQ+ individuals from religious exemptions that permit discrimination in healthcare, public services, and the workplace. I support strengthening enforcement of anti-discrimination laws to guarantee that the rights and absolute dignity of every person in Colorado are unconditionally protected. I support strengthening policies to close the gender pay gap and pay inequality.
-
I support expanding protections for LGBTQ+ individuals, including proactive shield laws to protect gender-affirming care and closing any legal loopholes that allow federal prosecution or out-of-state investigations into healthcare decisions made in Colorado. I support ensuring that gender-affirming care and other self-determining medical decisions remain completely free from legislative interference. I support defending the civil rights, safety, and dignity of LGBTQ youth, including strengthening anti-harassment and anti-discrimination laws, and civil actions for conversion therapy survivors. I support strict enforcement and accountability for employers, landlords, public servants, and other actors who violate anti-discrimination laws or deny LGBTQ+ Coloradans their fundamental civil rights.
-
I support implementing "soft no-drop" and evidence-based prosecution strategies that allow the state to pursue domestic violence cases using 911 calls, medical records, and third-party testimonies, rather than placing the burden and danger of testifying solely on the survivor. I support the expansion of Integrated Domestic Violence courts, which use a "one family-one judge" model for criminal, family, and matrimonial cases concurrently to ensure consistent court orders and greater offender accountability. I support specialized probation supervision, enforceable violation consequences, and domestic violence-specific risk assessments to fully capture the dynamics of coercive control and abuse. I support expanding civil protection orders to comprehensively mandate economic relief for survivors, such as child and spousal support, restitution for medical or relocation expenses, continued rent or mortgage payments, and access to a vehicle. I support allowing employers to investigate work devices if evidence indicates an employee is using company time or resources to harass, threaten, or digitally stalk their partner, enabling swift disciplinary action and assisting law enforcement in prosecuting offenders.
